Sixty-year-old Mira Singh of Manurewa also faces one charge under the Crime Act of obtaining money by deception.
He and his company - Aero Fire Sales and Services - each face three charges under the Fair Trading Act - of making false or misleading representations.
The Commission alleges Aero Fire and Singh falsely told customers fire extinguishers had maintenance history, that they were installed to standard, and that one extinguisher needing servicing every six months, when that is not the legal requirement.
It also claims Singh obtained money from customers who paid to have their extinguishers serviced to the New Zealand standard, when they did not receive that service.
Singh and Aero Fire are next due to appear in the Manukau District Court on October Fourth.
