Otago University researchers have compared the physical fitness of 15-year-olds from two separate generations.
They've found today's teenagers are heavier and less fit than their parents were at the same age.
Otago University researcher Bob Hancox says that backs up what many of us would have thought.
He says people are generally being less active, such as kids not walking to school because parents are concerned about safety.
