Motorists are being warned South Island mountain passes may be closed by snow tonight

Blue Skies Weather forecaster Tony Trewinnard says he's expecting 5-10 centimetres of snow above 500 metres.
He says while ski fields will be welcoming the dump ahead of the school holidays - motorists wont be as keen.
He says there's a possibility that roads could be closed, and the passes may have some issues or restrictions on them.
Tony Trewinnard says the good news is it will be fine but cold tomorrow through to Thursday with frosts expected.
