Employment lawyer Maria Dew, of Auckland law firm Bankside Chambers, will look at the women's Black Sticks environment, as well as the standards, policies and processes relating to Hockey NZ's high performance programme.
It comes after alleged criticism relating to the side's culture, and the environment created by coach Mark Hager.
While former goalkeeper Amelia Gibson has publicly spoken of player mistreatment, several former players have shown their public support for Hager.
The review will be completed by the end of November.
