Twenty-two students have been withdrawn from a Whanganui school this year, following complaints about bullying by a teacher
4 October 2018
Caregivers say there are another 17 pupils who may not return to Kaitoke School next year because they're dissatisfied with how the school has handled the bullying complaint.
The Ministry of Education confirms it's received a complaint about one teacher's treatment of students and is helping the school board of trustees manage the issue.
The Whanganui Chronicle reports the school - which usually has a roll of about 110 - has so far not responded to requests for comment.
The newspaper says it's seen documents confirming the school board brought in an independent investigator to look into complaints.
