Poor numbers from the stripe and beyond the arc have cost the Breakers in their Australian basketball league season opener

Poor numbers from the stripe and beyond the arc have cost the Breakers in their Australian basketball league season opener

Coach Kevin Braswell's tenure has begun with an 86-73 loss to the Brisbane Bullets in Auckland.

The Breakers managed just 50 percent of their 16 free throw attempts, and only 31 percent of their three-pointers, compared to the Bullets 78 and 48 respectively.

New co-owner Matt Walsh says the free throw numbers are particularly disappointing.

He says those are essentially free points, and they missed the chance to take an early lead.

The Perth Wildcats have beaten the Adelaide 36ers 99-91.
