Statistics from the most recent available year, 2016, show 75 people died in crashes involving trucks.
That's 23 percent of the entire annual road toll - almost one in four deaths on our roads.
It hasn't been higher than this in any year since at least 1980, when records began.
Almost 90 percent of the people who die are occupants of other vehicles - not trucks.
