Chrissy Teigen says Kanye West’s opinions have “always been super strong”, in the wake of his recent controversial Twitter rants

The 41-year-old rapper has caused a stir on the social media site ever since he returned in April following almost a year away from his account, as he’s been posting several rants on divisive subjects, including voicing his support for US president Donald Trump

Following one of his set of tweets, the rapper’s close friend John Legend got in touch to urge him not to “endorse” the controversial figurehead, and Kanye responded by claiming the singer was attempting to “manipulate his free thought”.

Now, John’s wife Chrissy, 32, has said Kanye “learned a lot” from his text exchange with John, but said there was no changing the ‘Heartless’ hitmaker’s views.

She said: “The thing with Kanye is that his opinions have always been super strong. He’s never been the guy to push them on you, but he will say what he wants to say. Same with John. That’s why I loved that they were able to have this civil discourse. Kanye learned a lot in the months after that. John did, too.”

And although the ‘Lip Sync Battle’ star has differing views to Kanye, she knows its important to allow everyone to have “their opinion”.

Speaking to Vogue magazine, Chrissy added: “You can’t just believe you’re the right one all the time. That’s what makes us horrible.

Trust me: My views are super liberal, and I’m like, ‘How could anyone not think this way?’ But people are also entitled to their opinion.”

In April, 39-year-old John text Kanye after he sent out a string of tweets in which he called Donald Trump his “brother”.

The texts, which were posted on Twitter by Kanye, read: “Hey it’s JL.

I hope you’ll reconsider aligning yourself with Trump. You’re way too powerful and influential to endorse who he is and what he stands for.

As you know, what you say really means something to your fans. They are loyal to you and respect your opinion.”

And Kanye responded: “I love you John and I appreciate your thoughts.

You bringing up my fans or my legacy is a tactic based on fear used to manipulate my free thought.”
