The NBA has unveiled a new career path for elite, young basketball stars that could persuade them not to play in the Australian basketball league or enter the college system
19 October 2018
The NBA G League, the organisation's second tier league, will offer 125 thousand dollar select contracts for a five month season to elite players at least 18 years old.
The G League has been criticised for currently only paying players $US35,000.
The new Select Contracts, beginning in the 2019-20 season, are expected to have the biggest impact on US college basketball and the "one and done" elite players who choose a top college for one season to be eligible for the NBA Draft.
