The former Black Caps fast bowler has been back in the Aces camp since Monday after recent short-form stints in the West Indies and United Arab Emirates.
Auckland coach Mark O'Donnell says one of the key things is McClenaghan has been playing cricket lately.
He says players want to go into any format with some playing experience under them no matter what it is which McClenaghan's been able to do.
First ball from the Eden Park Outer Oval's at 11am, with Wellington hosting Canterbury and Central Districts entertaining Otago.
