    Warriors hard man James Gavet is surprisingly leaving the NRL club for Newcastle

    The Warriors are expected to confirm later today the 29 year old has been released with a year remaining on his contract and is joining Newcastle on a two year deal.

    Gavet made a cryptic social media post earlier today suggesting his time at Mount Smart was over.

    James Gavet made 19 NRL appearances for the Warriors last season and played 42 matches for the club since joining in 2016 after stints at the Bulldogs, Wests Tigers and Broncos.
