A 41-year-old man has been arrested after he fled from police in a car and later on a stolen bicycle

A 41-year-old man has been arrested after he fled from police in a car and later on a stolen bicycle

He was spotted by police driving erratically and was pursued throughout the Hamilton East area.

But they abandoned the chase because of the nature of the man's driving.

Police were later informed the same car was parked on Casey Avenue.

When the man saw police he tried to flee again - this time stealing a bicycle but couldn't outpace police on foot.

Police are asking anyone who saw the incident to contact them.
