ACT Party says teachers union doesn't have interests of students or teachers at heart
The ACT Party says reports that teachers union NZEI has declined a pay offer and decided to strike because it already has meeting rooms booked shows it doesn't have the interests of students or teachers at heart

NZEI spokesman Liam Rutherford said the government offer arrived too late on Thursday for them to cancel tomorrow's meeting room bookings.
Party Leader David Seymour says it is breathtaking arrogance for the NZEI to think that its meeting room bookings are more important than hundreds of thousands of kids.
Mr Seymour says the vast majority of teachers want to be in the classroom helping our kids learn.
He cites this as a clear example of why the union model is out-of-date for education, and says teachers and students alike would be better off without it.
