    Fleeing driver on Southern Motorway sideswipes several vehicles before crashing into barrier

    A fleeing driver who failed to stop for police in Auckland's Blockhouse Bay sped onto the Southern Motorway sideswiping several vehicles before crashing into a barrier in Mt Wellington


    Police say a pursuit was begun, but aborted because of the nature of the driving.

    The white sedan was soon spotted by the police helicopter sideswiping passing cars on the motorway, before driving in the wrong lane and crashing into a barrier.

    The male driver was arrested.
