Several residents are being forced out of their rental accommodation as landlords turn their properties into short term Airbnb's to make way for visitors.

Tauranga Deputy Mayor Kelvin Clout says Tauranga City Council is looking seriously into a bed tax to regulate Airbnb rentals.

He says Airbnb is clearly taking away some of the supply going into the normal rental market, which is a big concernl.
