Two significant selection calls for Gary Stead in his first test as New Zealand cricket coach
Two significant selection calls for Gary Stead in his first test as New Zealand cricket coach

Stead will liaise with fit-again captain Kane Williamson in selecting an XI to play Pakistan in Abu Dhabi from 7pm - the country's first test in seven-and-a-half months.
Williamson's expecting turn with not a huge amount of grass on the pitch.
As a result, the New Zealand XI is expected to feature at least one debutant with spinners Ajaz Patel and Will Somerville vying to join Ish Sodhi at the bowling crease.
That means either Neil Wagner or Tim Southee will likely carry drinks.
Southee was man-of-the-match in the Black Caps last test, while Wagner and Trent Boult were preferred the last time New Zealand played just two pace bowlers when the entire trio were available.
