Unmanned petrol stations should always offer lower fuel prices than regular retailers

That's according to the AA, who are praising Waitomo Petroleum for announcing they're dropping the price of Unleaded 91 below two dollars for the next week, at all its stations.

Petrol price spokesperson for the AA, Mark Stockdale, says he's not surprised.

He says Waitomo are one of the low cost brands and they have unmanned service stations.

Stockdale says it's a smart manoeuvre by Waitomo Petroleum, who are getting ahead of any future drops in the national price of fuel .
