The Otago Regional Council say the town of Balclutha is still safe, with flooding contained by the flood banks.
They say the Waipiata River is still rising due to water coming out of the Loganburn Dam, and they're looking at whether the Taieri River will peak again.
More rain is forecast for this evening and expected to continue until 2am tomorrow.
