Minister for Housing Phil Twyford's today announced the Housing and Urban Development Authority will be established next year.
Kim Campbell, CEO of the Employers and Manufacturers Association, says it's a good move.
He says that many of the issues that New Zealanders have faced such as the high cost of housing and disconnected transport are a function of the way our planning systems currently operate.
Campbell says that in the long term a reform of the Resource Management Act is the best way forward... but thinks it'll take at least another election cycle for that to happen.
