Under Matheson, Cycling NZ has won numerous world titles, Commonwealth and Olympic Games medals but most recently he's overseen a tumultuous time.
Issues with culture and bullying were highlighted in the Heron Review, though Matheson hasn't fronted at all on the matter.
Andrew Matheson will leave at Christmas, with the board to appoint an interim CEO over the next six months before a permanent replacement is named.
