Vandals have struck at a Mt Maunganui school, leaving the playground littered in glass
6 December 2018
The playground at Arataki School is cordoned off with hazard tape after the most recent hit in a string of attacks.
Principal Shelley Blakey says the vandals have pushed broken glass into the wood chips on the base of the playground.
The chip now needs to be taken away and replaced at a cost to the school.
That's not been the only trouble .... thieves broke into the canteen and stole food at the weekend, and last month several fires were started on the school grounds.
CCTV footage suggests the vandals are around intermediate or early college age.
Police have told the Bay of Plenty Times they've located some young people of interest in the area but,as yet, no arrests have been made.
