A 21-year-old has been jailed for two and a half years for prostituting a 14-year-old girl

A 21-year-old has been jailed for two and a half years for prostituting a 14-year-old girl

Monika Kelly has been sentenced in the Auckland High Court this morning, after admitting to dealing in people under 18 for sexual exploitation.

She was 19 at the time.

Herald reporter Sam Hurley was in court, and says the girl has lasting trauma.

He says in a statement the victim said her friends at school that know about what happened now treat her differently.

Hurley says the judge said the victim no struggles with trust issues and can no longer be by herself in rooms with men.
