The father of a missing British backpacker has battled tears while appealing for public help

The father of a missing British backpacker has battled tears while appealing for public help

David Millane has flown to Auckland, where his 22-year-old daughter Grace Millane was last seen on Saturday night.

She's been out of contact with her family, which is highly unusual.

Millane says she usually checks in daily on social media.

He is appealing to anybody who has come into contact with her in the past few days to come forward with any details, no matter how small.

Detective Inspector Scott Beard says the last known sighting of Grace Millane was at 9.41pm on Saturday at the City Life Hotel, with a man.

    Police have spoken to him.

CCTV footage shows her entering the hotel, but it's not yet known if she left it.

Detective Inspector Beard says an apartment at the City Life is a place of interest and police are conducting a scene examination.
