Brayden Whiting-Roff and Christopher Brown have been sentenced today for the murder of Jack McAllister - who was lured to Stadium Southland and brutally stabbed to death in June last year.
The McAllister family say in a statement they are devastated by the events of the past 18 months.
They say not only was their son killed in a traumatic way, but they had to deal with unsubstantiated allegations against him after his death.
The family say the people who harmed Jack spread rumours to absolve themselves of responsibility.
A third person, Laura Scheepers, was sentenced to 12 months home detention for manslaughter.
