    Two serious crashes on Waikato highways near Matamata within four kilometres of each other have landed eight people in hospital


    St John says one person is in critical condition, another has serious injuries and the others have moderate to minor injuries.

    The crashes were at the intersection of State Highway 29 and Hopkins Rd - and at Puketutu Rd and State Highway 27.
