A bid to slow drivers down ... and reduce crashes and injuries on Auckland roads
11 December 2018
The Auckland Transport Board has approved a Draft Speed Limits Bylaw dropping speeds on 10 percent of the region's roads.
It will be out for public consultation next year.
The board says dozens of lives will be saved and hundreds of serious injuries prevented if safe speeds are introduced across high-risk Auckland roads.
Auckland Transport chief executive Shane Ellison says setting safe speeds is one of the quickest and most effective tools for reducing road trauma.
