The Crusaders look set to be severely weakened for the start of their Super Rugby title defence next year

It's already been confirmed that captain Sam Whitelock will sit out the first four weeks, with All Blacks skipper Kieran Read and hooker Codie Taylor highly likely to do the same.
Forwards coach Jason Ryan says Taylor's absence is to be countered by the return of his long time back-up from injury.
He says Ben Funnell has rehabbed extremely well with his ACL and will be ready to go for the first pre season game.
