24-year-old Franchesca Borell was convicted of the murder of Hardeep Singh today.
He was stabbed to death at a Cashmere house in 2016.
Borell denied intentionally killing Singh at her trial in the Christchurch High Court - claiming she threw a knife at him but didn't intend to kill him.
However, the jury sided with Crown evidence that Singh died of a stab wound to the heart - rather than from a thrown knife.
Police are welcoming the verdict - and say they hope it brings the victim's family in India some closure.
