The Police Association is hesitantly accepting the Government's drug reforms, which enshrines their policy of discretion for drug users.
It's what they've been doing anyway... just 52 people were imprisoned for possession last year.
Police will still have the option to arrest users, on a case-by-case basis.
Police Association president, Chris Cahill says he doesn't want officers to be asked to spearhead decriminalisation, when parliament hasn't done that.
He says it looks like they're wanting a different focus on the legality, without going to whole way and just saying it.
