Secondary teachers are cautiously optimistic a solution can be reached in their stoush with the Ministry of Education

Mediated bargaining between the Post Primary Teachers' Association and the ministry is underway.
The Post Primary Teachers' Association says nothing's been done to lighten teachers' workload and ensure their well-being.
Teachers rejected the previous pay offer earlier this month.
PPTA president Jack Boyle says there are no guarantees progress will be made.
He says he's hopeful the Government will come around, so both sides can get things right for kids.
A one day teacher strike is still on the table - although no date has been set.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education says about 800 overseas teachers are being interviewed for new year vacancies.
