The Black Caps come off an historic test win over Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates, which saw them chasing the opposition for much of the series.
Williamson says he wants his side to have more control against Sri Lanka, but admits test cricket's a funny game.
He says all sorts of scenarios can occur in cricket, which can benefit or hurt a team.
