In excess of 300,000 New South Wales drivers have been caught using their mobile phones while driving in a month-long trial for high-tech detection cameras

More than 11,000 drivers a day were detected using their phones during a test period for world-first technology to be rolled out next year by the state government.
Roads Minister Melinda Pavey says it is a very dangerous act to keep your eyes down low and not on the road.
She says this technology will have a major impact on improving driver behaviour and therefore road safety.
