Taxpayers are feeling the pain from injuries to amateur rugby players

ACC says it's dealt with 64 thousand rugby related claims in the past year.
It splashed out nearly 72 million dollars on medical expenses and income support for non-professional players.
Claims for rugby union are well ahead of the next most costly sport for injuries - soccer - which came in at 38 million.
Injuries suffered at the gym cost 34 million dollars.
