20 year old James Fouche has claimed the 166 kilometre elite men's and under-23 combined road race at the national championships in Napier.
The Team Wiggins rider was part of a 12-person breakaway, before advancing from the lead group with just over two laps to go on the climb up Hospital Hill.
Fouche says it means a lot to be able to cross the line with the Wiggins name on his jersey.
He says to be able to claim the title and be able to wear the national champs jersey throughout the world this year is special.
