Dramatic scenes at a Wellington retirement village

Dramatic scenes at a Wellington retirement village

A woman visiting her husband at Village at the Park in Berhampore this afternoon suffered a medical event, driving into the building.

A staff member inside was seriously injured and has been taken to hospital with two fractured ankles and contusions to her face and leg.

Communications manager Tristan Saunders says it's too early to tell how badly the building is damaged, but it looks to be significant.

He says the driver can't recall the incident and is being treated for shock.

    WorkSafe has been advised.
