The neglected felines were found at a Lower Hutt property yesterday when police were called to a domestic incident.
Constable Sophie Meads says it was obvious the cats' needs weren't being met so the officers took the balls of fluff to the vet.
She says five of the kittens are only a month old so they need more time with their mum before being adopted out.
