The use of Lime scooters in Dunedin's Baldwin St is already under scrutiny as the company and police try to curb reckless behaviour on the street

The use of Lime scooters in Dunedin's Baldwin St is already under scrutiny as the company and police try to curb reckless behaviour on the street

Police were periodically visiting the steep street today, and Lime has made it a non-service zone due to it being a "high risk area".

One person has already been filmed riding down the steepest street in the world since the scooters arrived a day ago.

A Lime spokeswoman says the company strongly discouraged anyone from copying him.

Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen says police are periodically checking the street just to make sure people are using their common sense.

He says it's up to individuals and the company to make sure the scooters were being used as intended and police would intervene when necessary.
