The Black Caps have ensured the Sri Lankan cricket team will leave these shores without a win

New Zealand's won the one-off Twenty20 international at Eden Park by 35 runs, bowling out the visitors for 144 in the 17th over.

Earlier the hosts posted 179 for seven, recovering from 55 for five courtesy of 44 and 35 respectively from all-rounders Doug Bracewell and Scott Kuggeleijn .

Stand-in captain Tim Southee says those two stepped up when required.

He says for Bracewell and debutant Kuggeleijn to put in those sort of performances is fantastic, while Ross Taylor's 33 was also key.
