The man with the most apt name in the sport won 6-4, 6-2 to clinch a maiden ATP title.
The American didn't lose a set all tournament.
Sandgren says it means a lot to get the first win.
Earlier Ben McLachlan and German Jan Lennard Struff beat Kiwi Michael Venus and his partner Raven Klaasen in the doubles final.
