Owen Lloyd was first on scene - and he's told today's Herald on Sunday the young man was jammed between the seat and steering wheel.
Lloyd says after moving his car out of the way for emergency services, he desperately tried to unbuckle the driver.
He wanted to perform CPR until the ambulance arrived.
But the man was stuck and he realised he was 'gone', and there was nothing he could do.
Police say it appears the driver had been speeding down the narrow street, before crossing the centre line on a blind corner and hitting the bus.
