People living in a road in Auckland where a young driver was killed have been raising concerns about it for years...decades even

Police believe the man was speeding before he ploughed into a bus on Gowing Drive in Meadowbank.

They say his car crossed the centre line, on a blind corner.

Orakei Local Board's Carmel Claridge says sections of it are quite steep, and windy.

She says when you combine those factors with excessive speed it's a recipe for disaster, and now disaster has struck.

Carmel Claridge says residents have been expressing concern about speeding for decades - and have been asking for safety improvements.
