Billy Stairmand is hoping his latest national surfing title is the beginning of the biggest year of his career

Billy Stairmand is hoping his latest national surfing title is the beginning of the biggest year of his career

The Raglan surfer won his seventh national title in Taranaki yesterday.

Stairmand says the win is a really good confidence booster as he begins his preparations to leap from the World Surf League's qualifying series, to the main tour.

Stairmand begins his push for qualification at the Carve Pro in Sydney next weekend.
