Gwynn Compton says he's standing in this year's local body elections to bring fresh leadership and a community-led approach.
He's previously worked for John Key and Bill English as a social media advisor.
Most recently he started a campaign to keep Victoria University's name.
Compton says the Council has no plan for the growth from roading projects like Transmission Gully and Peka Peka to Otaki.
He says he doesn't want people on low and fixed incomes to get left behind, and squeezed out of the community.
