Ellesse Andrews, Michaela Drummond, Emily Shearman and Lauren Ellis have claimed bronze in the women's team pursuit.
New Zealand's sent a development group to the competition, with no other teams advancing to medal races on day one.
The competition moves to individual events tonight.
