    A 15-year-old will spend at least 10 years behind bars for the murder of a Hawke's Bay man.

    Haami Hanara has been sentenced to life in prison, for the murder of 40-year-old Kelly Donner at Flaxmere Tavern in March last year.

    Meanwhile The New Zealand banking industry could face increased scrutiny following the Australian banking Royal Commission report.

    The report released on Monday, is calling for tougher regulation, more scrutiny of pay and has made 76 recommendations to overhaul the industry.

    Kiwibank chief executive Steve Jurkovich says there are still a number of tough questions to be asked.

    He says there's going to be an ever-heightening level of scrutiny around whether customers getting a fair deal and how its proved.

    In Sport..............Frankie Mackay believes a five year absence from international cricket has had its positives.

    The Canterbury opener will make her return to the New Zealand side in the Twenty20 series with India.

    Mackay hasn't appeared for the White Ferns since 2014 and says she's changed since then.

    Fellow Breaker Jarrad Weeks is up for 'sixth man' for his efforts off the bench, as well as most improved player.

    Long is also nominated for defensive player of the year.
