21-year-old Michael Abou Chaaya has been sentenced to 10 months home detention in North Shore's District Court today.
In August last year he pleaded guilty to six counts of dangerous driving causing injury - after ploughing into six school children at a North Shore bus stop.
Herald reporter Meghan Lawrence was in court.
She says their reaction was subdued - and for many it was a sense they can finally move on.
