Henry Nicholls is keeping a simple approach to his new role within the Black Caps

Henry Nicholls is keeping a simple approach to his new role within the Black Caps

Usually a middle order player, Nicholls has recently been elevated to try and solve the side's opening struggles as they build towards this year's one-day international World Cup.

Nicholls says he's not trying to emulate any big hitters such as Brendon McCullum or Colin Munro.

He says he just wants to play his own game, keep things simple and build a partnership with fellow opener Martin Guptill.

The second ODI against Bangladesh is in Christchurch from 11am.
