The search for further signs of the Queensland fruit fly in Auckland is focussed on a tight circle, around where the first insect was found

Biosecurity staff have been putting an extra 150 traps out within a 200 metre radius.
More traps are being placed up to 1.5 km from the original find in Devonport.
MPI says its first job is to determine whether it's an actual incursion, or just a solitary insect.
If a population is found, work will done to wipe it out.
Teams are out on the ground visiting local properties, checking fruit trees, vege gardens and compost heaps which could be suitable homes for fruit flies.
