A boost for the Wellington Phoenix as they push to make the A-League playoffs

A boost for the Wellington Phoenix as they push to make the A-League playoffs

The sixth placed Phoenix have re-signed key defender Steven Taylor for another season.

The former Newcastle United Premier League player has signed a one year contract extension and will remain in Wellington until the end of the 2019/20 campaign.

Taylor has scored once in 18 appearances for the Phoenix.

White Ferns captain Amy Satterthwaite's been caught off-guard with how her coach has reacted to the World Twenty20 review.

Haidee Tiffen has taken a leave of absence after the findings recommended the management roles be advertised at the completion of their contracts

Tiffen's described the review as confronting and challenging and Satterthwaite is surprised she took it so hard.

The White Ferns start the Rose Bowl ODI series across the Tasman on Friday.

The New Zealand Breakers will be looking to keep the majority of their team together as the offseason now begins for the North Shore club.

The Breakers finished a disappointing 7th with 12 wins and 16 defeats but introduced a range of talents such as centre Shawn Long and guard Jarrad Weeks.

General manager Dillon Boucher says they already have a good portion under contract, so now it'll be finding the best pieces that fit.

Emma Twigg has all the belief she can rediscover her form on the water.

The Olympic rower will take part in the New Zealand rowing nationals which begin tomorrow, having come out of retirement at the end of last year for a crack at next year's Olympic Games.

Twigg says physically she's in good nick, but there's other areas to improve on.
