Wellington's train drivers are being snapped up by KiwiRail leaving the public transport system short

Transdev thinks about 12 of its staff are leaving for KiwiRail - tripling the company's annual driver turnover.
Recruitment regimes are being ramped up and annual leave tightly managed in response.
Transdev's chief operating officer Mike Fenton says the significant shortage is expected to last until late this year.
He says drivers are turning to KiwiRail for jobs in other parts of the country and to give their career a shakeup.
